#INDIAN MARKET #WEEKLY CLOSING PERFORMANCE FROM 21ST SEPTEMBER 2026 TO 25TH SEPTEMBER 2026

🔹 Benchmark indices recorded their seventh consecutive weekly decline despite ending Friday’s session in the green, marking the longest weekly losing streak for domestic equities since 2020.

🔹 Nifty 50 closed the week at 23,140.50, registering a weekly decline of over 0.8% as elevated global crude oil prices and high US bond yields continued to weigh on overall sentiment.

🔹 BSE Sensex settled the week at 73,895.74, managing a Friday recovery of 315.20 points (+0.43%) supported by selective buying in auto and realty heavyweights.

🔹 Bank Nifty displayed relative resilience, closing the weekly session in positive territory supported by late-week buying in private sector lenders including Axis Bank and HDFC Bank.

🔹 Nifty Auto and Nifty Realty emerged as the top-performing sectors for the week, benefiting from festival season demand expectations and regional buying momentum.

🔹 Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma remained under sustained pressure throughout the week, dragging down the broader market upside amid persistent foreign institutional investor selling.

🔹 HDFC Life, Bharti Airtel, and HCL Technologies stood out as top weekly relative gainers among Nifty 50 constituents.

🔹 Broader markets underperformed front-line benchmarks, with the Nifty Midcap 100 showing persistent weakness due to valuation consolidation and broad liquidity constraints.

🔹 Foreign Institutional Investors remained net sellers overall across the 5-day trading week, offsetting short-lived daily inflows.

🔹 India VIX hovered near lower bands around 11.26–12.00, signaling moderated local volatility despite ongoing macroeconomic headwinds.
